    A Stone was laid as a Memorial to 222 Bethany Home Children on Wednesday 2 April 2014. The Ecumenical Service was conducted by Canon Mark Gardiner (Rector, parish of St Catherine & St James with St Audoen) in the Victorian chapel of Mount Jerome Cemetery.

Unveiling of Bethany Homes Grave (from RTE)

The short clip (to the left) was from RTE news (2 April 2014) where Government ministers joined their Northern Assembly counterparts, church representatives and survivors of the Bethany Home for the unveiling of a monument. This was erected to remember to over 200 children buried in previously unmarked graves.

The 222 children died between 1922 and 1949 in the now-defunct home and were buried secretly in Mount Jerome Cemetery nearby.

Bethany Homes Service
